A chocolate truffle
is a type of chocolateconfectionery, traditionally made with a chocolate ganache centre coated in chocolate, cocoa powder, coconut, or chopped and toasted nuts (typically hazelnuts or almonds), usually in a spherical, conical, or curved shape.
This week I will be presenting a workshop on the making of truffles. It is by the way, getting really close to that season of marshmallow dreams and candy cane fantasies. Truffles fit in here somewhere Im sure!
A big part of what we will be doing in the workshop is experimenting with unusual flavour combinations and coatings. the making of truffles themselves is a fairly easy process. It's basically just cream and chocolate in a ratio of 2 parts chocolate to one part cream...melt them together, cool and shape. Add a little decoration and some pretty packaging, voila, truffles for friends, family, and of course yourself! Victory Chocolate will be adding a line of truffles soon, click on the link to see whats available.
How about a couple of recipes...
you may also enjoy trying to make your own milk and white chocolate from scratch. its pretty easy and eliminates keeping several types of chocolate around.
Cheers, and have a great Monday. Check back with us for more seasonal ideas and thoughts!
